The Taste Food Tour :: Jammy Buggars

Ever wonder what “Jammy Buggars” means? I sure did. Here’s the definition – “A lucky individual, favored, charmed, blessed, serendipitous. He just won the lottery, that Jammy Buggar!” Collins Thesaurus of the English Language – Complete and Unabridged 2nd Edition. 2002 HarperCollins Publishers 1995, 2002.

Thanks to Jammy Buggars in Lakewood, we all can be a “Jammy Buggar!”

During my next stop on The Taste Food Tour, I found myself in the middle of Detroit Road in Lakewood. I visited Jammy Buggars to have dinner with some friends, all of whom were craving some JBs – As one of my favorite places to eat in Lakewood, I sure was glad we were all on the same page.

We ordered our beers (Blue Moon, Great Lakes Rye of the Tiger, and Jammy Buggars own “Black Bart”) and munched on the appetizer chips they give to each table. Just the chips alone are worth a visit to JBs – Spicy and crunchy. Yum.

I usually order The Ex – fresh tomato, avocado, buffalo mozzarella, and roasted garlic pesto on ciabatta. However, I decided to go with Mikey’s Salmon BLT – sweet chili glazed salmon topped with smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado, and cilantro-lime aioli. Unreal. If you’re a BLT-lover like me, you need to try Mikey’s Salmon BLT. Check out more of the items on JBs menu here.

With a burger or sandwich comes thick-cut fries with several dips. I haven’t ventured from my usual sriracha mayo dip yet, but I’ve heard the Jammy Buggars sauce is fantastic.

I encourage everyone to stop by Jammy Buggars to chow down on some American fare while checking out our Taste of Lakewood t-shirt quilt with participating TOL restaurants. The quilt is up for raffle during the Taste of Lakewood this Sunday. It’s rumored that Jim, the owner of Jammy Buggars, wants to win the quilt and keep it in his restaurant. Who is going to challenge him as the owner of this year’s most prized raffle item?

What’s your go-to menu item at JBs? What do you hope they will bring to the Taste of Lakewood?
